The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Kick off your visit on the 28th (Sat): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Dazaifu Tenman-gu, take in the spiritual surroundings of Komyozen-ji Temple, then buy something for everyone on your list at JR Hakata City Amu Plaza Hakata, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Kushida Shrine. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 29th (Sun): walk around Ohori Park, step into the grandiose world of Najima Castle, and then browse the different shops at Tenjin Underground Shopping Center.

Singapore, Singapore to Fukuoka is an approximately 9-hour flight. The time zone changes from Singapore Standard Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Singapore in October, expect Fukuoka to be little chillier, temps between 27°C and 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Sun) to allow enough time to take a train to Osaka.

You can take a train from Fukuoka to Osaka in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. Expect a daytime high around 26°C in October, and nighttime lows around 17°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Wed) to allow enough time to drive to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Visit Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Kinkaku-ji for their historical value. Get a sense of the local culture at Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Arashiyama. There's still lots to do: step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, steep yourself in history at Kyoto Imperial Palace, take in the spiritual surroundings of Tofuku-ji Temple, and don't miss a visit to Heian Shrine.

You can drive from Osaka to Kyoto in 1.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or take a bus. In November in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 19°C during the day and 10°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 6th (Mon) so you can travel to Tokyo.
