On the 4th (Mon), look for gifts at Itsukushima Gekijyo, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Daishoin Temple, then steep yourself in history at Itsukushima Shrine Torii, and finally take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Misen.

A popular destination for Japanese tourists, Kumage-gun Yakushima-cho is a true paradise for nature lovers, with over 1,900 species and subspecies of plants.
On the 5th (Tue), look for all kinds of wild species at Yakusugi Land. Here are some ideas for day two: take in the awesome beauty at Tachudake and then take in breathtaking views at Shiratani Unsuikyo Valley.

Getting from Hatsukaichi to Yakushima-cho by combination of train, flight, and taxi takes about 5.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of train, bus, flight, and taxi; or do a combination of train, ferry, and taxi. Traveling from Hatsukaichi in February, expect Yakushima-cho to be somewhat warmer, temps between 17°C and 10°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Wed) early enough to travel to Onna-son.

Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
Do your shopping at Onna Station Nakayukui Market and Aiai Farm. Get outdoors at Scuba & Snorkeling and Kouri-jima Island. Venture out of the city with trips to Sefa-Utaki (in Nanjo), Nakijin Castle Ruins (in Nakijin-son) and AEONMALL OKINAWA RYCOM (in Kitanakagusuku-son). The adventure continues: go for a walk through Cape Zampa.

You can do a combination of taxi, flight, and bus from Yakushima-cho to Onna-son in 6.5 hours. Another option is to do a combination of taxi, ferry, and bus. Traveling from Yakushima-cho in February, expect Onna-son to be a bit warmer, temps between 22°C and 14°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel to Ishigaki.

Miyakojima

Miyakojima
A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Escape the urban bustle at Aragusuku Beach and Toguchi no Hama. Visit Yonaha Maehama Beach and Sunayama Beach for some beach relaxation. There's still lots to do: head off the coast to Shimojiiima Island, take in the views from Irabu Bridge, and make a trip to East Henna Cape.
