Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
For shopping fun, head to Ginza or Art Jeunesse Akihabara. Get some cultural insight at Odaiba and Tokyo National Museum. Go for a jaunt from Tokyo to Mitaka to see Ghibli Museum Mitaka about 44 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: see the interesting displays at Edo-Tokyo Museum, take in the spiritual surroundings of Senso-ji Temple, make a trip to Harajuku Takeshita-dori, and wander the streets of Akihabara.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Tokyo is an approximately 10.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry. The time zone changes from Malaysia Time (MYT) to Japan Standard Time (JST), which is usually a 1 hour difference. Plan for colder temperatures traveling from Kuala Lumpur in December, with highs in Tokyo at 14°C and lows at 4°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Thu) to allow time to travel to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Gion and Dotonbori. Museum-lovers will appreciate Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Fureaikan and Namikawa Yasuyuki Sippo Memorial Museum. When in Kyoto, make a side trip to see Nara Park in Nara, approximately 1h 10 min away. Next up on the itinerary: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sanjusangendo Temple, and explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle.

You can take a train from Tokyo to Kyoto in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and bus; or drive. In December, plan for daily highs up to 13°C, and evening lows to 4°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Sun) to allow time to take a train to Hiroshima.

Traveling by train from Kyoto to Hiroshima takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train, flight, and ferry. In December, plan for daily highs up to 13°C, and evening lows to 4°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 24th (Tue) early enough to travel to Ishigaki.

Step out of the city life by going to Yonehara Beach and Kondoi Beach. Let the collections at Ishigaki Yaima Village and Nei Museum of Art capture your imagination. The adventure continues: contemplate the waterfront views at Kabira Bay, enjoy the sand and surf at Fusaki Beach, head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, and Head underground at Ishigaki Island Limestone Cave.

You can do a combination of train and flight from Hiroshima to Ishigaki in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or do a combination of ferry and flight. Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from Hiroshima in December: highs in Ishigaki hover around 26°C, while lows dip to 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Fri) to allow enough time to travel to Miyakojima.

Get outdoors at Yonaha Maehama Beach and Sunayama Beach. You'll get in some beach time at Aragusuku Beach and Toguchi no Hama. There's lots more to do: kick back and relax at Hora Gyoko no Hama Beach, see the vivid underwater world at Yabiji, and stroll through Nagamahama Beach Coast.
