Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes NTT Docomo Yoyogi Building. Take a break from the city and head to Odaiba Kaihin Koen (Odaiba Seaside Park) and Meguro River. Get a sense of the local culture at Kitchen Town (Kappabashi) and Kagurazaka. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Kick off your visit on the 2nd (Sun): tour the pleasant surroundings at Mt. Kurama, admire nature's wide array of creatures at Monkey Park Iwatayama, then explore the historical opulence of Nijo-jo Castle, and finally explore the activities along Kamogawa River. On your second day here, snap pictures at Togetsukyo Bridge, contemplate the long history of Sanjusangendo Temple, then get great views at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and finally wander the streets of Gion.
