In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Cattedrale (Duomo) di Bergamo e Battistero and Chiesa di Santa Maria presso San Satiro. Duomo di Milano and Mura Venete will appeal to history buffs. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Milan: Bergamo (Cappella Colleoni & Campanone o Torre Civica). There's lots more to do: examine the collection at Gallerie d’Italia, explore the historical opulence of Castello Sforzesco, explore the world behind art at Grande Museo del Duomo di Milano, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza del Duomo.

New York City, USA to Milan is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of flight and train.
