Often referred to as Iceland's second city, Akureyri offers an array of cultural attractions in a scenic setting.
The Old Farmhouse Laufas and Catholic Church (Katholska Kirkjan) are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get outdoors at Hofdi and Lake Myvatn. Step out of Akureyri to go to Husavik and see Horseback Riding Tours, which is approximately 52 minutes away. There's still lots to do: take in the natural beauty of Mývatn Nature Baths and admire the sheer force of Goðafoss Waterfall.

Fly from Reykjavik to Akureyri in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. July in Akureyri sees daily highs of 16°C and lows of 9°C at night. On the 20th (Sat), you'll travel to Reykjavik.
