Russia's political, economic, and cultural center, Moscow remains the most populous inland city in the world, famed for its colorful history and rich architectural heritage.
Start off your visit on the 28th (Sat): appreciate the extensive heritage of Kolomenskoye Historical and Architectural Museum and Reserve. On the 29th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: admire the striking features of Kremlin Walls and Towers, then explore the world behind art at The State Tretyakov Gallery, then pause for some serene contemplation at St. Basil's Cathedral, and finally don't miss a visit to Red Square (Krasnaya ploshchad).

Hong Kong, China to Moscow is an approximately 14-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. You'll gain 5 hours traveling from Hong Kong to Moscow due to the time zone difference. Expect much colder temperatures when traveling from Hong Kong in September; daily highs in Moscow reach 17°C and lows reach 9°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Mon) so you can travel to St. Petersburg.

Built on a desolate swamp as a showcase capital of Imperial Russia, this grand city has certainly lived up to the expectations of its founder, Tsar Peter the Great.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Russian Museum and Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. Museum-lovers will get to explore Catherine Palace and Park and Peterhof Grand Palace. There's lots more to do: explore the world behind art at The State Hermitage Museum, examine the collection at Saint Isaac's Cathedral, take an in-depth tour of Kazan Cathedral, and steep yourself in history at Palace Square (Dvortsovaya Ploshchad).

Getting from Moscow to St. Petersburg by train takes about 4.5 hours. Other options: fly; or drive. September in St. Petersburg sees daily highs of 19°C and lows of 9°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Sun) early enough to take a train to Helsinki.

Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
On the 7th (Mon), take in the architecture and atmosphere at Rock Church, deepen your knowledge of military history at Sea Fortress Suomenlinna, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Helsinki Cathedral, and finally appreciate the extensive heritage of The Esplanadi Park.

Traveling by train from St. Petersburg to Helsinki takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from St. Petersburg to Helsinki. In October, plan for daily highs up to 10°C, and evening lows to 1°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 7th (Mon) so you can catch the ferry to Tallinn.

Often referred to as "The Paris of the North," Riga offers thriving nightlife and some of the best collections of Art Nouveau architecture in Europe.
Kick off your visit on the 11th (Fri): get engrossed in the history at Latvijas Okupācijas muzejs, then steep yourself in history at Latvian Ethnographic Open Air Museum, and then take a stroll through Old City Riga (Vecriga). Keep things going the next day: pause for some photo ops at Freedom Monument (Brivibas Piemineklis), then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Nativity of Christ Cathedral, then examine the collection at Riga Motormuseum, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. Peter's Church.
