On the bank of the Mtkvari River and at the foot of Trialeti mountain range, Tbilisi's location has given the city strategic significance since it was founded in the 5th century.
Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Tbilisi: Mtskheta (Svetitskhoveli Cathedral & Jvari Church). The historic city of Tabriz has come to be seen as a summer resort destination, on account of its temperate summers and interesting, attractive city center.
Go for a jaunt from Tabriz to Urmia to see Lake Urmia about 1h 55 min away. There's lots more to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Colorful Mountains of Tabriz, delve into the distant past at Ark Mosque (Ark-e-alishah), get engrossed in the history at Azerbaijan Museum, and steep yourself in history at Kandovan.

Start off your visit on the 21st (Wed): delve into the distant past at Ateshgah Fire Temple, examine the collection at Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, and then don't miss a visit to Baku Old City. On the 22nd (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: make a trip to Flame Towers, take in the pleasant sights at Baku Boulevard, and then don't miss a visit to Fountains Square.
