Grasmere is a village and tourist destination in the centre of the English Lake District. On the 27th (Sun), hike along Catbells Lakeland Walk, then delve into the distant past at Castlerigg Stone Circle, and then take in the dramatic natural features at Helm Crag. Situated on the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss, York has witnessed an abundance of major political events throughout its two millennia of existence.
On the 29th (Tue), see the interesting displays at York Castle Museum, shop like a local with Pyramid Gallery, look for gifts at Rue B, see the interesting displays at Pandora's Box Antiques and Oddities, then take a stroll through York Shambles, and finally admire the striking features of York Minster.
