Temuco developed into a major Chilean city because of a forestry and livestock boom the region experienced during the early decades of the 20th century.
Take a break from the city and head to Conguillio National Park and Monumento Natural Cerro Nielol. You'll explore and learn at Museo Nacional Ferroviario Pablo Neruda de Temuco and Museo Regional de la Araucania. Change things up with a short trip to Los Pozones in Pucon (about 1h 30 min away). It doesn't end there: make a trip to Mercado Municipal de Temuco.

Santiago to Temuco is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Mon) early enough to travel to Castro.

Museum-lovers will appreciate Museo Regional de Ancud and Museo Historico Etnografico. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Iglesia Nuestra Senora de Gracia de Nercon and Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de los Dolores.
