Ubud

Experience small-town Bali in Ubud, an atmospheric town surrounded by small settlements, farms, and rice paddies.
Get outdoors at Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary and Scuba & Snorkeling. Get a sense of the local culture at Tirta Empul Temple and Gunung Kawi Sebatu Temple. Venture out of the city with trips to Mt Batur (in Kintamani) and Pura Tirta Empul Segara Merta Sari (in Sanur). The bounty of pristine white-sand beaches and turquoise lagoons bordered by emerald green hills, unique cliff formations, and colorful reefs is what draws most travelers to Nusa Penida.
On the 16th (Mon), tour the pleasant surroundings at Pasih Uug Beach, discover the deep blue sea with Surya Nusa Penida Tour, then kick back and relax at Kelingking Beach, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Pura Paluang. Traveling by ferry from Ubud to Nusa Penida takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and ferry. Expect a daytime high around 84°F in August, and nighttime lows around 75°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Tue) so you can travel to Amed.

A snaking coastline and quaint, sleepy fishing villages characterize Amed, a stretch of shorefront with seven villages in Bali's east.
Start off your visit on the 18th (Wed): discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour and then enjoy the sand and surf at Jemeluk Beach. On the 19th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: contemplate the long history of Ujung Water Palace, then explore and take pictures at Taman Tirtagangga, and then see the vivid underwater world at USS Liberty Shipwreck.

You can do a combination of ferry and car from Nusa Penida to Amed in 3 hours. Another option is to do a combination of ferry and bus. Traveling from Nusa Penida in August, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be slightly colder in Amed, with lows of 69°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Thu) to allow time to drive to Kuta.
