Once a small village in northwest Cambodia, Siem Reap now serves as a gateway to the Angkor region's World Heritage-listed temple and other attractions.
Step out of the city life by going to Kbal Spean and Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre. Bayon Temple and Banteay Srei will appeal to history buffs. There's lots more to do: delve into the distant past at Ta Prohm, steep yourself in history at Angkor Thom, see the interesting displays at Cambodia Landmine Museum, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Pre Rup.
