Divided into neighborhoods with distinct characters and cultural heritages, San Diego sits just north of the Mexican border and offers visitors a blend of tourist attractions, including a lively nightlife, diverse cuisine, and a thriving musical scene.
Change things up with a short trip to Self Realization Fellowship Hermitage & Meditation Gardens in Encinitas (about 30 minutes away). There's still lots to do: learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at San Diego Zoo, let the kids burn off some steam at Balboa Park, take a tour of Maritime Museum of San Diego, and admire the majestic nature at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve.

Atlanta to San Diego is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time to Pacific Standard Time is minus 3 hours. Step out of Los Angeles with an excursion to Disneyland Park in Anaheim--about 36 minutes away. Pack the 20th (Wed) with family-friendly diversions at Universal Studios Hollywood. There's lots more to do: see the interesting displays at The Getty Center, appreciate the extensive heritage of Hollywood Walk of Fame, admire the landmark architecture of Walt Disney Concert Hall, and see the sky in a new way at Griffith Observatory.
