An old colonial city and a busy cruise ship port less than an hour's drive from Houston, Galveston sits on Galveston Island and serves as a popular vacation destination for both domestic and international travelers.
Visiting Dolphin & Whale Watching and Quintana Beach will get you outdoors. Step off the beaten path and head to Armand Bayou Nature Center and Sea Center Texas. Get out of town with these interesting Galveston side-trips: Stingray Reef 215 Kipp Ave (in Kemah) and Sylvan Beach Park (in La Porte).
