The Forest City

Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
Start off your visit on the 23rd (Fri): see what you can catch with a fishing tour and then explore the landscape on two wheels at Eastern Promenade Trail. Keep things going the next day: enjoy the sand and surf at Wells Beach, then enjoy the sand and surf at Footbridge Beach, and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Short Sands Beach.
