Taitung

Sitting between the mountains and the sea, Taitung offers pleasing scenery no matter what direction you face.
On the 26th (Sat), head off the coast to Green Island and then get great views at Haishenping. Here are some ideas for day two: walk around Taidong Forest Park, make a trip to Taitung Brown's Road, and then head off the coast to Sanxiantai.

Traveling by car from Hualien to Taitung takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 27th (Sun) early enough to drive to Hengchun.

Hengchun

Located on the southern tip of the eponymous peninsula, Hengchun serves as the entry point to Kenting National Park, often attracting more travelers than locals with its tropical beach resorts and bustling night markets.
Start off your visit on the 28th (Mon): look for all kinds of wild species at Kenting National Park, then stroll around Longpan Park, and then take in panoramic vistas at Southern Point. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: observe the fascinating underwater world at National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, then see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and then see the interesting displays at Taipower.

Getting from Taitung to Hengchun by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. In September, daily temperatures in Hengchun can reach 37°C, while at night they dip to 30°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Tue) so you can travel to Magong.

Magong

Most visitors take a trip to Magong to see Penghu's iconic landmark, the famed Tianhou Gong Mazu temple, honoring the Chinese sea goddess and dating back to the 16th century.
On the 30th (Wed), get engrossed in the history at Penghu Fossil Museum, enjoy the sand and surf at Shanshui Beach, take some stellar pictures from Kueibishan, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Penghu Tianhou Temple, and finally don't miss a visit to Cimeiyu. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 1st (Thu): step off the mainland to explore Penghu Islands, don't miss a visit to Penghu Great Bridge, then take an unorthodox tour of Penghu Tiantang Lu, and finally make a trip to Xu Jia Cun Cai Hui Bi Hua.

You can drive from Alishan to Nantou in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus. In October in Nantou, expect temperatures between 34°C during the day and 24°C at night. On the 5th (Mon), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
