Nestled between the sea and the mountains, Hualien boasts a number of attractions, both natural and manmade.

Hengchun

Located on the southern tip of the eponymous peninsula, Hengchun serves as the entry point to Kenting National Park, often attracting more travelers than locals with its tropical beach resorts and bustling night markets.
Start off your visit on the 26th (Sat): wander the streets of Fu'an Temple and then get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium. Keep things going the next day: head outdoors with Dawan Kenting Beach Park, get outside with Shadao Ecological Reserve, then enjoy the sand and surf at Little Bay Beach, and finally learn the secrets of beer at Kenting Tribe 1173 Surf Shop.

You can drive from Hualien to Hengchun in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus. September in Hengchun sees daily highs of 89°F and lows of 78°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 27th (Sun) so you can go by car to Tainan.

The oldest city in the country, Tainan stood as the island's capital during feudal times.
Popular historic sites such as Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum and Chihkan Tower (Fort Provintia) are in your itinerary. Get some cultural insight at Chimei Museum and Zhen'antang Feihu General Temple. When in Tainan, make a side trip to see FuFu Spa in Xinxing, approximately Xinxing away. Known its good weather, Taichung boasts an interesting set of cultural attractions, including many temples showing the development of religious architectural styles in the area and forming focal points for most tours of Taichung.
Start off your visit on the 1st (Thu): take in the spiritual surroundings of Yuan Bao Temple (Yuan Bao Gong), see the interesting displays at Gen.Sun Li-Jen Residence, then wander the streets of Rainbow Village Taichung, and finally relax and rejuvenate at Goldmine928 Massage Center Taichung. On the 2nd (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: pause for some serene contemplation at Taichung Baptist Church, see the interesting displays at 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan, and then explore the world behind art at Chung Tai World Museum.
