A small trading town in the 17th century, Kaohsiung now stands as a sprawling metropolis, its harbor representing the largest on the island.
On the 4th (Sun), head off the coast to Cijin Island, explore the activities along Ai He (Love River), then take in the exciting artwork at The Pier-2 Art Centre, and finally don't miss a visit to The Dome of Light. Here are some ideas for day two: tour the pleasant surroundings at Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area, then steep yourself in history at Anping Tree House, and then get to know the fascinating history of Chihkan Tower (Fort Provintia).

Known its good weather, Taichung boasts an interesting set of cultural attractions, including many temples showing the development of religious architectural styles in the area and forming focal points for most tours of Taichung.
Kick off your visit on the 8th (Thu): steep yourself in history at ConfuciusTemple Martyr's Shrine. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 9th (Fri): take a stroll through Lukang, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Lugang Old Street, and then identify plant and animal life at Kaomei Wetland.

Taichung is just a stone's throw from Nantou. In November, daytime highs in Taichung are 30°C, while nighttime lows are 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Sat) to allow time to travel to Taoyuan.
