Hengchun

Located on the southern tip of the eponymous peninsula, Hengchun serves as the entry point to Kenting National Park, often attracting more travelers than locals with its tropical beach resorts and bustling night markets.
Get a sense of the local culture at Fu'an Temple and Taipower. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Kenting Tribe 1173 Surf Shop and Guan Shan Recreational Camp Village. The adventure continues: step off the mainland to explore Sand Island (Sa-Dau), make a trip to Guan Shan Fude Temple, enjoy the sand and surf at Little Bay Beach, and identify plant and animal life at Kenting Long Keng Ecological Reserve.

Taipei to Hengchun is an approximately 4.5-hour combination of train and bus. You can also drive; or do a combination of flight and bus. While traveling from Taipei, expect somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Hengchun, ranging from highs of 34°C to lows of 25°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 27th (Sat) early enough to go by car to Hualien.

Kick off your visit on the 28th (Sun): get out on two wheels at Uniquefun, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tzu Chi Foundation, and then hike along Lushui Trail. On the 29th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: admire the verdant scenery at Emerald valley, trek along Zuocang Trail, then indulge in some personalized pampering at Pure Aroma spa, and finally look for gifts at Zengji Mashu.

Drive from Hengchun to Hualien in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and train. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Mon) so you can catch the train to Taipei.

Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to .Sansia Tsu Shi Temple and Tianhou Temple. Visit Sandiaojiao Lighthouse and Hongludi for their historical value. Change things up with these side-trips from Taipei: Yonglian Temple (in Luzhou), Ruifang (Xiahai Chenghuang Temple & Elephant Trunk Rock) and YOLO Taiwan (in Dayuan). You can take a train from Hualien to Taipei in 3.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or do a combination of bus and train. November in Taipei sees daily highs of 29°C and lows of 22°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Nantou.

Nantou

Your inner history buff will appreciate Jiji Wuchanggong and Nantian Temple. Escape the urban bustle at Hanbi Trail and Wenwumiaohoushan Park. Get out of town with these interesting Nantou side-trips: Zhongyou Department Store (in Fengyuan) and Taichung Baptist Church (in West District).

Do a combination of taxi and train from Nantou to Kaohsiung in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and train. Traveling from Nantou in December, things will get a bit warmer in Kaohsiung: highs are around 29°C and lows about 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Thu) early enough to fly back home.
