Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Taipei: Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street) (in Ruifang) and YehLiu Geopark (in Wanli). There's still lots to do: get engrossed in the history at National Palace Museum, make a trip to Elephant Mountain (aka Nangang District Hiking Trail), buy something for everyone on your list at Taipei 101, and wander the streets of Ximending.

Chennai, India to Taipei is an approximately 11-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 2.5 hours traveling from Chennai to Taipei. While traveling from Chennai, expect cooler days and a bit cooler nights in Taipei, ranging from highs of 25°C to lows of 17°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 5th (Fri) early enough to go by car to Nantou.

Traveling by car from Taipei to Nantou takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 25°C in March, and nighttime lows around 16°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 9th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Beigang.

Harbor City

A small trading town in the 17th century, Kaohsiung now stands as a sprawling metropolis, its harbor representing the largest on the island.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kaohsiung: Chimei Museum (in Rende), Liuqiu Dive (in Pingtung City) and Xiao Liu Qiu (in Liuqiu). There's lots more to do: get outside with Ai He (Love River), head off the coast to Cijin Island, view the masterpieces at The Pier-2 Art Centre, and don't miss a visit to Dragon Tiger Tower.

You can drive from Beigang to Kaohsiung in 2 hours. Expect somewhat warmer temperatures when traveling from Beigang in March; daily highs in Kaohsiung reach 31°C and lows reach 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Mon) to allow time to fly back home.
