Located in the popular holiday region of Ticino, Lugano is the largest Italian-speaking town in Switzerland.
Take a break from the city and head to Lake Lugano and Monte San Giorgio. Castelgrande and Castelli di Bellinzona will appeal to history buffs. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Lugano: Castello di Montebello (in Bellinzona), Sacromonte e Santuario Madonna del Sasso (in Orselina) and Campanile di Intragna (in Intragna). Chur or Coire is the capital and largest town of the Swiss canton of Grisons and lies in the Grisonian Rhine Valley, where the Rhine turns towards the north, in the northern part of the canton. Get in touch with nature at Heidi's Village and Caumasee. Visit Old Town Chur and Landwasser Viaduct for their historical value. Martigny is the capital of the French-speaking district of Martigny in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. Burgkirche Raron and Ermitage Notre-Dame de Longeborgne will appeal to history buffs. Get some cultural insight at Vigne a Farinet and Valere Basilica. Explore Martigny's surroundings by going to Fondation Pierre Arnaud (in Lens), Felsenkirche Eglise St.Michael (in Raron) and Ski Service (in Verbier). Traveling by car from Chur to Martigny takes 4 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of train and flight. In June in Martigny, expect temperatures between 30°C during the day and 17°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 7th (Mon) to allow enough time to take a train to Zermatt.

Best known as home the Matterhorn mountain, Zermatt serves as a chic ski resort town of the Swiss Alps.
Escape the urban bustle at Gornergrat and Zermatt-Matterhorn Ski Paradise. Get a sense of the local culture at Matterhorn Museum - Zermatlantis and Kapelle Winkelmatten "Zur Heiligen Familie". Take a break from Zermatt with a short trip to Spas in Leukerbad, about 1h 15 min away. There's much more to do: tee off at Golf Club Matterhorn, don't miss a visit to Mountaineers' Cemetery, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kapelle Schwarzsee "Maria zum Schnee", and stop by Laderach.
