Although lacking in sights of its own, tourism in Habarana flourishes due to its proximity to cultural and natural attractions.
Escape the urban bustle at Safaris and Dhilip De Alwis. Polonnaruwa Vatadage and Dambulla Cave Temple are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Explore Habarana's surroundings by going to Polonnaruwa (Gal Potha & Gal Vihara) and Balloon Rides (in Dambulla). One of the most scenic beach resorts in Sri Lanka, Hikkaduwa features a number of long white sand beaches with palm trees and gentle waves.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Sinharaja Forest Reserve and Tsunami Honganji Vihara. Visiting Victor Hasselblad Sea Turtle Research & Conservation Center and Sea Turtle Farm and Hatchery - Habaraduwa will get you outdoors.
