Winchester is a city and the county town of Hampshire, England. Head to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Hockey's Farm Shopfor plenty of shopping. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like The Mary Rose Museum and Arundel Castle and Gardens. Venture out of the city with trips to Portsmouth (HMS Warrior 1860 & Gunwharf Quays), Beaulieu National Motor Museum (in Beaulieu) and Bay Tree Gifts and Parua (in Wickham). A busy, cosmopolitan city, Oxford is perhaps best known for its ancient university.
Do your shopping at Castle Combe Village and Avebury Stone Circle. Do some cultural sightseeing at West Kennet Long Barrow and Church of St. James. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Oxford: The Lemongrove Gallery (in Reading), Avebury (Avebury Manor, Elements of Avebury, & more) and St. Andrew's Church (in Castle Combe).

Getting from Winchester to Oxford by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a train; or take a bus. In October, daily temperatures in Oxford can reach 18°C, while at night they dip to 8°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Fri) early enough to catch the train to London.

Head to Gustamps and Hannah Peschar Sculpture Gardenfor plenty of shopping. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like The Lanes and Royal Pavilion. Explore London's surroundings by going to Bateman's (in Burwash), Hove (Cameron Contemporary Art Gallery & Three Angels by Vintage Charm) and Brighton (North Laine, Brighton Palace Pier, & more).
