Kirkwall is the largest town and capital of the Orkney Islands of Scotland. Take a break from the city and head to Mull Head Nature Reserve and Marwick Head RSPB Nature Reserve. Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Take a break from the city and head to Camas an Lighe (Singing Sands) and Loch Shiel. Do some cultural sightseeing at Castle Tioram and Glenfinnan Viaduct. Get out of town with these interesting Fort William side-trips: Oban (McCaig's Tower & Oban Distillery). And it doesn't end there: admire the sheer force of Inchree Waterfalls, take in the awesome beauty at Ben Nevis, and examine the collection at West Highland Museum.
