CIty of Ramen

A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
Get out of town with these interesting Sapporo side-trips: Kaitaku Fukurofunoyu (in Tobetsu-cho), Otaru (Asahi Observation Platform & Otaru Canal) and Yoichi-cho (Nikka Whisky Yoichi Distillery & Asadaen Farm). There's much more to do: walk around Odori Park, make a trip to Sapporo Clock Tower, get outside with Maruyama Genshirin, and get a sense of history and politics at Former Hokkaido Government Office Building.

Step out of Tokyo to go to Maihama and see Tokyo DisneySea, which is approximately 40 minutes away. There's lots more to do: don't miss a visit to Tokyo Tower, wander the streets of Odaiba District, get curious at National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation Miraikan, and take in panoramic vistas at Tokyo Skytree.

Fly from Sapporo to Tokyo in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. When traveling from Sapporo in August, plan for somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Tokyo: temperatures range from 36°C by day to 28°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel back home.
