Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Popular historic sites such as Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and Castelo dos Mouros are in your itinerary. Get some cultural insight at Belém Tower and Museu Calouste Gulbenkian. Venture out of the city with trips to Sintra (Quinta da Regaleira & Park and National Palace of Pena). There's lots more to do: explore the world behind art at Museu Nacional do Azulejo, look for all kinds of wild species at Wildlife Areas, see the interesting displays at Pharmaceutical Museum, and wander the streets of Alfama.

Though the town of Sagres has roots in the Portuguese Age of Discovery, it is better known by visitors as a peaceful, rugged resort spot with great surfing beaches.
Step out of the city life by going to Dolphin & Whale Watching and Telheiro Beach. You'll get in some beach time at Praia do Amado and Praia Da Amoreira. When in Sagres, make a side trip to see Praia Vale Dos Homens in Rogil, approximately Rogil away. It doesn't end there: visit a coastal fixture at Cape Saint Vincent and kick back and relax at Bordeira Beach.

You can drive from Lisbon to Sagres in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. August in Sagres sees daily highs of °F and lows of °F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 27th (Tue) so you can go by car to Albufeira.

Along Portugal's southern Algarve region sits Albufeira, a city boasting 20 beaches for visitors to choose from.

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
You'll explore and learn at Museu Serralves and Belomonte 20. Popular historic sites such as Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral) and Palacio da Bolsa are in your itinerary. There's lots more to do: admire the masterpieces at Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis, snap pictures at Ponte de Dom Luis I, pause for some photo ops at Monumento aos Herois da Guerra Peninsular, and enjoy the sand and surf at Praia do Carneiro.
