Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Belém Tower and Quinta da Regaleira are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and Park and National Palace of Pena. Change things up with a short trip to Castelo dos Mouros in Sintra (about 42 minutes away). There's lots more to do: take a stroll through Alfama, get engrossed in the history at Carmo Archaeological Museum, admire the masterpieces at Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, and get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Lisbon Oceanarium.

The allure of the beaches and the town's historical center draw visitors to Lagos, a coastal destination in the Barlavento region of the Algarve.
Step out of the city life by going to Praia Da Rocha and Praia da Cordoama. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Praia da Marinha and Falesia Beach. Explore Lagos' surroundings by going to Rogil (Praia da Carriagem & Praia Vale Dos Homens), Praia dos Salgados (in Gale) and Odeceixe Beach (in Odeceixe). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Telheiro Beach and stroll through Barranco das Canas Beach.

Tavira has succeeded at escaping the flood of tourism that has affected other coastal Portuguese towns over the years.
You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Cabanas de Tavira beach and Garrao Nascente Beach. Get in touch with nature at Caramelo Beach Club and Praia de Monte Gordo.
