Hugging the western tip of Lake Titicaca, Puno serves as a melting pot of indigenous and imported cultures, and makes a great base for explorations around the region.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Wed): step off the mainland to explore Uros Floating Islands and then race across the water with a speed boat tour. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: explore the activities along Lake Titicaca, step off the mainland to explore Taquile Island, and then get great views at Mirador Ing. Lisbon, Portugal to Puno is an approximately 21-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of bus and flight. Traveling from Lisbon to Puno, you'll gain 5 hours due to the time zone difference. In August, Puno is much colder than Lisbon - with highs of 21°C and lows of -3°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Thu) early enough to travel to Cusco.
