Capital of the Inca Empire for three centuries, World Heritage-listed Cusco is now a major tourist destination, drawing nearly 2 million annual tourists with its well-preserved colonial architecture and proximity to Machu Picchu.
You've added Pisac, Rainbow Mountain Cusco, Puka Pukara, and other attractions to your itinerary. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Cusco: Maras (Salinas de Maras & Moray). There's lots more to do: explore the ancient world of Sacsayhuaman, contemplate the long history of Plaza de Armas, and admire the striking features of Centro Historico De Cusco.

San Jose, Costa Rica to Cusco is an approximately 10-hour flight. The time zone difference when traveling from San Jose to Cusco is 1 hour. Traveling from San Jose in October, expect nights in Cusco to be much colder, around 7°C, while days are a bit cooler, around 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Tue) early enough to take a bus to Ollantaytambo.

Retaining much of its centuries-old architecture, Ollantaytambo represents one of the world's finest examples of Incan city planning.
Kick off your visit on the 7th (Wed): explore the ancient world of Pinkuylluna Mountain Granaries, then steep yourself in history at Archaeological Park Ollantaytambo, and then steep yourself in history at Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Getting from Cusco to Ollantaytambo by bus takes about an hour. Other options: take a shuttle; or drive. In October, daily temperatures in Ollantaytambo can reach 24°C, while at night they dip to 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Fri) so you can travel to Puno.

Hugging the western tip of Lake Titicaca, Puno serves as a melting pot of indigenous and imported cultures, and makes a great base for explorations around the region.
On the 9th (Fri), don't miss a visit to Arco Deustua and then stroll around Parque Pino. Here are some ideas for day two: step off the mainland to explore Uros Floating Islands, then contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Titicaca, and then take some stellar pictures from Mirador Ing. You can do a combination of bus and flight from Ollantaytambo to Puno in 4.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Ollantaytambo in October, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Puno, with lows of 1°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 11th (Sun) to allow time for the car ride to Arequipa.

Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Lima is known for parks, historic sites, and museums. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: get engrossed in the history at Museo Larco, stroll around Parque Alfredo Salazar, admire the local landmark of Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor), and take a stroll through Barranco.
