Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Largo da Oliveira and Monumento aos Herois da Guerra Peninsular. Escape the urban bustle at Praia da Costa Nova and Parque Tematico Molinologico. Step out of Porto with an excursion to Montanha- Parque da Penha in Guimaraes--about 58 minutes away. Spend the 18th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral), learn about winemaking at Porto Augusto's, stroll through Zoo Santo Inacio, and look for all kinds of wild species at Celanus-Empresa de Turismo, SA.

To find reviews, where to stay, more things to do, and tourist information, use the Porto tour itinerary planner.
