Highlands is an incorporated town in Macon County in the U.S. Kick off your visit on the 1st (Tue): admire the sheer force of Bust Your Butt Falls. Here are some ideas for day two: admire the sheer force of Silver Run Falls, admire the sheer force of Bridal Veil Falls, and then take in the dramatic scenery at Dry Falls.

Philadelphia to Highlands is an approximately 6-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and car. Traveling from Philadelphia in June, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be little chillier in Highlands, with lows of 59°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Thu) so you can go by car to Cherokee.

The center of Cherokee culture in the eastern part of the country, the town named after this Native American tribe serves as a base camp for hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Cherokee: River Rafting & Tubing (in Bryson City), Wheels Through Time Transportation Museum (in Maggie Valley) and Wehrloom Honey (in Robbinsville). There's much more to do: get engrossed in the history at Mountain Farm Museum, examine the collection at Museum of the Cherokee Indian, steep yourself in history at Oconaluftee Indian Village, and try your luck at Casino at Harrah’s Cherokee.

Blowing Rock is a town in Watauga and Caldwell counties in the U.S. Visit Moses H. Cone Memorial Park and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church for their historical value. Get out of town with these interesting Blowing Rock side-trips: Saint Mary's Episcopal Church (in West Jefferson), E.H. Sloop Chapel (in Crossnore) and Rough Ridge Lookout (in Linville). There's lots more to do: whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, discover the riches below the earth's surface at Foggy Mountain Gem Mine, identify plant and animal life at Grandfather Mountain, and stop by Mast General Store.

Drive from Asheville to Blowing Rock in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Asheville in June, expect Blowing Rock to be a bit cooler, temps between 77°F and 57°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 15th (Tue) so you can travel back home.
