Norfolk

— 14 nights
Norfolk formed around a natural harbor that’s home to the world’s largest naval base, which helped cement the city as a keystone for strategic military planning and government.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Barker House and 1886 Roanoke River Lighthouse. Take a break from the city and head to Carova Beach and Sarah Constant Beach Park. Venture out of the city with trips to Plymouth (God's Creation Wildlife Museum, Bear-Ology Black Bear Museum, &more), Richmond (Virginia Museum of History & Culture & Fan District) and Somerset Place State Historic Site (in Creswell). There's still lots to do: take a tour of Battleship Wisconsin at Nauticus, contemplate the long history of Cupola House, examine the collection at U.S. Army Transportation Museum, and take a stroll through MacArthur Center.

For other places to visit, reviews, traveler tips, and more tourist information, you can read our Norfolk trip builder website.

May in Norfolk sees daily highs of 77°F and lows of 60°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Mon) to allow enough time to travel back home.
