City of Sails

The largest and most populous city in New Zealand, Auckland combines a rich history and thriving contemporary culture in an abundance of museums, art galleries, and performance venues.
Step out of the city life by going to Piha Beach and Takapuna Beach. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Browns Bay Beach and Anawhata. When in Auckland, make a side trip to see Karekare Falls in Karekare, approximately Karekare away. There's lots more to do: don't miss a visit to SkyTower, explore the activities along Devonport, examine the collection at Auckland Museum, and browse the different shops at The Warehouse.

Bengaluru, India to Auckland is an approximately 20-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 6.5 hours traveling from Bengaluru to Auckland. Traveling from Bengaluru in December, you will find days in Auckland are slightly colder (20°C), and nights are about the same (20°C). Finish up your sightseeing early on the 28th (Tue) so you can go by car to Rotorua.

Sulphur City

Surrounded by lakes and featuring impressive areas of geothermal landscape, the city of Rotorua offers an otherwordly landscape and a welcoming, peaceful environment, with the culture of the native Maori people very much in the foreground.
Take a break from the city and head to Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland and Te Puia. Visit Mt Maunganui Main Beach and Papamoa Beach for some beach relaxation. Take a break from Rotorua with a short trip to Aerius Helicopters in Tauranga, about 1h 5 min away. There's lots more to do: kick your exploration up a notch at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, contemplate the geological forces at Waimangu Volcanic Valley, take a peaceful walk through Redwoods, Whakarewarewa Forest, and take a memorable tour with Redwoods Treewalk.

Getting from Auckland to Rotorua by car takes about 3 hours. Other options: fly; or take a bus. Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from Auckland in December: highs in Rotorua hover around 25°C, while lows dip to 17°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 31st (Fri) early enough to drive to Taupo.

The resort town of Taupo lies on the banks of Lake Taupo, the largest body of water in the whole of Australasia.

Set among the picturesque peaks and glacially carved fiords of Fiordland National Park, Te Anau offers those wishing to explore the park a great place to stay and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of a small town in an enviable location.
Milford Sound has been added to your itinerary. Step out of the city life by going to Mirror Lakes Walk and Boat Tours & Water Sports. Go for a jaunt from Te Anau to Milford Sound to see Milford sound Hwy about 56 minutes away. Traveling by combination of flight and bus from Taupo to Te Anau takes 9.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of bus and ferry. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Wed) to allow time to travel back home.
