You'll find plenty of places to visit near Carlsbad: Carlsbad Caverns National Park (Carlsbad Caverns Natural Entrance Tour, Big Room, &more). Albuquerque remains one of the state's secret jewels, as its tourist attractions are often overshadowed by the more popular holiday destination of Santa Fe.
Take a break from Albuquerque with a short trip to Bandelier National Monument in Los Alamos, about 1h 20 min away. There's lots more to do: stop by Albuquerque Old Town, take a memorable tour with Tours, examine the collection at Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, and get curious at The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History.
