Monticello

— 12 nights
Monticello is a home rule-class city in Wayne County, Kentucky, in the United States. Kids will appreciate attractions like Harland Sanders Cafe and Museum and Lake Cumberland State Resort Park. Change things up with these side-trips from Monticello: Somerset (International Paranormal Museum and Research Center & SomerSplash Waterpark), Danville (Wilderness Trail Distillery, The Great American Dollhouse Museum, &more) and Cumberland Gap National Historical Park (in Middlesboro). Spend the 7th (Tue) exploring nature at Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area. There's lots more to do: take in the dramatic scenery at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, contemplate the long history of Old Fort Harrod State Park, explore the striking landscape of Daniel Boone National Forest, and look for all kinds of wild species at Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery.

Phoenix to Monticello is an approximately 27-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of flight and car; or drive. The time zone changes from Mountain Standard Time to Eastern Standard Time, which is usually a 2 hour difference. When traveling from Phoenix in July, plan for a bit cooler days and cooler nights in Monticello: temperatures range from 87°F by day to 64°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 13th (Mon) so you can travel back home.
