A gateway to the island, Hakodate has gained a reputation for its waterfront attractions, its proximity to some of the island's most popular natural sites, and its seafood.
Kick off your visit on the 13th (Fri): stroll the grounds of Hakodate Foreign General Cemetery, then get to know the fascinating history of Onuma Park Walking Path, and then take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Esan. Keep things going the next day: take in the awesome beauty at Mount Hakodate, admire the striking features of Kyu Soma-tei, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Motomachi Catholic Church, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Trappist Monasteries.

Singapore, Singapore to Hakodate is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. The time zone changes from Singapore Time (SGT) to Japan Standard Time (JST), which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Singapore in September, things will get a bit cooler in Hakodate: highs are around 26°C and lows about 18°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Sat) early enough to drive to Toyako-cho.

With the largest international airport on the island, Chitose serves for most visitors as a way in or a way out, rather than a destination in itself.
