Appreciate the collections at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and Mazda Museum. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Peace Memorial Park - Hiroshima and Hiroshima Museum of Art. Kids will enjoy Universal Studios Japan and Himeji Castle. Step out of Osaka with an excursion to Matsue Swimming Beach in Akashi--about 1h 15 min away. There's still lots to do: take a stroll through Dotombori District, get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, and steep yourself in history at Osaka Castle.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Attractions like Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Nijo Castle make great kid-friendly stops. Head to Nishiki Market Shopping District and M's KYOTO INFORMATION CENTERfor plenty of shopping. There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, admire the masterpieces at Hosomi Museum, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, and get all the equipment you need at Fuuka-Kimono.

Traveling by train from Osaka to Kyoto takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In September in Kyoto, expect temperatures between °C during the day and °C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Thu) to allow time to drive to Gotemba.
