Miyakojima

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Get a sense of the local culture at Higashi Hennazaki Lighthouse and Yukishio Museum. Get some historical perspective at Ikemashima Lighthouse and Ninto zeiseki. The adventure continues: see the vivid underwater world at Yabiji, stroll through Yonaha Maehama Beach, see the interesting displays at Sabaoki Park Observatory Facility, and contemplate the long history of Nakasone Toyumya Tomb.

Ishigaki

Get some cultural insight at Island Countryside Settlement and Ishigaki Yaima Village. Museum-lovers will appreciate Kuroshima Research Institute and Memorial Hall of Yoko Gushiken. Change things up with these side-trips from Ishigaki: Nawa Insect Museum Haimurubushi (in Kohama-jima) and Nakamoto Beach (in Kuro-shima). Biei-cho
