Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Senso-ji Temple and Fukagawa Edo Museum will appeal to history buffs. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Odaiba District and Akihabara. There's lots more to do: wander the streets of Ginza, make a trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine, get engrossed in the history at Edo-Tokyo Museum, and enjoy the sand and surf at Odaiba Kaihin Koen (Odaiba Seaside Park).

Ahmedabad, India to Tokyo is an approximately 16-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry. You'll lose 3.5 hours traveling from Ahmedabad to Tokyo due to the time zone difference. Expect a daytime high around 36°C in August, and nighttime lows around 28°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 21st (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Shimoda.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.

You can drive from Shimoda to Kyoto in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of bus and train. Traveling from Shimoda in August, expect nights in Kyoto to be about the same, around 29°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 39°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Thu) so you can drive to Osaka.

The village of Zamami-son in the western Kerama Islands spans four of the islands in the group, one of which remains uninhabited.
