The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Step off the beaten path and head to Eikando Zenrinji Temple and Kennin-ji Temple. Do some cultural sightseeing at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Sanjusangendo Temple. Go for a jaunt from Kyoto to Dotombori to see Dotombori District about 1h 10 min away. And it doesn't end there: contemplate the long history of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, step into the grandiose world of Osaka Castle, don't miss a visit to Nijo Castle, and wander the streets of Gion.

Your inner history buff will appreciate Daishoin Temple and Itsukushima Shrine. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Yamato Museum and Itsukushima Shrine Torii. Change things up with these side-trips from Hiroshima: JMSDF Kure Museum (in Kure) and Hatsukaichi (Itsukushima Gekijyo & Miyajima). You'll discover tucked-away gems like Aragusuku Beach and Shimojiiima Island. Get outdoors at Yabiji and Scuba & Snorkeling. There's much more to do: get outside with Sunayama Beach, take in the views from Kurima Bridge, and kick back and relax at Yonaha Maehama Beach.

Do a combination of train and flight from Hiroshima to Miyakojima in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. While traveling from Hiroshima, expect somewhat warmer days and much hotter nights in Miyakojima, ranging from highs of 30°C to lows of 24°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Thu) early enough to travel to Tokyo.
