The city of Hatsukaichi developed from a small market town, frequented by passing samurais during the Edo period.
You've now added Miyajima Fireworks to your itinerary. Start off your visit on the 26th (Thu): stroll through Miyajima Sambashimae Park, walk around Momijidani Park, take in the spiritual surroundings of Senjokaku, then watch the show of lights at Miyajima Fireworks, and finally don't miss a visit to Gojuno To. Hiroshima to Hatsukaichi is an approximately half hour train ride. You can also drive; or ride a tram. December in Hatsukaichi sees daily highs of 13°C and lows of 4°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 28th (Sat) early enough to catch the train to Hiroshima.

The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Sat): admire the natural beauty at Komyozen-ji Temple, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Dazaifu Tenman-gu, then make a trip to Hakata Station, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kushida Shrine, and finally buy something for everyone on your list at Tenjin Underground Shopping Center. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: take a stroll through Mojiko Retro, then step into the grandiose world of Kokura Castle, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Tochoji Temple, and finally make a trip to Fukuoka Tower.
