Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Colosseum and Pantheon are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Visit St. Peter's Basilica and Vatican Museums for their historical value. There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Palatine Hill, admire the masterpieces at Galleria Borghese, admire the local landmark of Trevi Fountain, and get engrossed in the history at Musei Capitolini.

Dublin, Ireland to Rome is an approximately 6.5- hour combination of flight and bus. You can also fly; or do a combination of flight and train.
