You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Budapest is known for historic sites, spas, nightlife, museums, and nature. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: admire the landmark architecture of Hungarian Parliament Building, admire the masterpieces at Hungarian National Gallery (Magyar Nemzeti Galeria), take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika), and steep yourself in history at Matthias Church.

Brussels, Belgium to Budapest is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or drive. Traveling from Brussels in August, expect Budapest to be a bit warmer, temps between 32°C and 18°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 29th (Thu) to allow time to take a bus to Eger.

Eger is known for historic sites, nature, museums, wineries, and spas. Get out of town with these interesting Brasov side-trips: Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle) (in Bran), Predeal Monastery (in Predeal) and Peles Castle (in Sinaia). Getting from Eger to Brasov by car takes about 9 hours. Other options: do a combination of train, car, flight, and shuttle; or take a bus. The time zone changes from Central European Time to Eastern European Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Thu) to allow time to take a train to Bucharest.
