Ranking as the most popular ski resort in Hokkaido, mountaintop Niseko-cho boasts great slopes and surprisingly vibrant nightlife.
Arishima Memorial Center and Kutchan Natural History Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Take a break from the city and head to Niseko Hanazono Resort and Niseko Mountain Resort Grand Hirafu Ski Place. The adventure continues: head outdoors with Niseko Village Ski Resort, identify plant and animal life at Niseko Outdoor Center, take in the views from Niseko Ohashi Bridge, and relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas.

A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Sapporo Snow Festival as well as Hokkaido Museum Morino Charenga. Start off your visit on the 5th (Sat): get a dose of culture at Sapporo Snow Festival. On your second day here, examine the collection at Yanaga Hokkaido Museum, get engrossed in the history at Hokkaido Museum Morino Charenga, then browse the exhibits of Minapa, and finally stop by Susukino.

Traveling by car from Niseko-cho to Sapporo takes 2 hours. When traveling from Niseko-cho in February, plan for little chillier days and about the same nights in Sapporo: temperatures range from -1°C by day to -5°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Mon) to allow time to fly to Kushiro.

Kushiro

Kushiro first developed as an industrial hub thanks to its relatively ice-free harbor, and has since also become known as a transport hub for journeys to the east of the island.
You've now added Nusamai Bridge to your itinerary. Kick off your visit on the 7th (Mon): take in panoramic vistas at Kushiro Marsh Observatory, then identify plant and animal life at Onnenai Boardwalk, then steep yourself in history at Kushiro Itsukushima Shrine, and finally snap pictures at Nusamai Bridge.

Traveling by car from Sapporo to Kushiro takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive; or take a train. Traveling from Sapporo in February, expect slightly colder with lows of -10°C in Kushiro. Finish your sightseeing early on the 7th (Mon) so you can drive to Furano.

Furano

Situated in the center of the island, Furano has become known for its idyllic rural landscape, and the drastic changes it experiences as seasons shift.
