Hexham

— 14 nights
Hexham is a market town and civil parish in Northumberland, England, south of the River Tyne, and was the administrative centre for the Tynedale district from 1974 to 2009. Get out of town with these interesting Hexham side-trips: Windermere (Treetop Trek, Brockhole on Windermere, &more), The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction (in Bowness-on-Windermere) and Alpacaly Ever After (in Portinscale). Spend the 28th (Sat) exploring nature at Lake District National Park Guided Walks. The adventure continues: take an in-depth tour of Vindolanda, get outside with Allen Banks and Staward Gorge, contemplate the long history of Housesteads Roman Fort - Hadrian's Wall, and take in the dramatic scenery at Aira Force Waterfall.

For photos, reviews, where to stay, and tourist information, read our Hexham day trip planning site.

If you are flying in from Denmark, the closest major aiports are Newcastle Airport, Durham Tees Valley Airport and Leeds Bradford Airport. In September, daily temperatures in Hexham can reach 19°C, while at night they dip to 10°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 30th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
