Deshaies

— 14 nights
The sleepy town of Deshaies walks the line between tradition and development, possessing an international feel while also sticking true to its island roots.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Eglise Saint Pierre et saint Paul and Domaine de Severin. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Regy Balade and Ranch des 2 ilets. Explore Deshaies' surroundings by going to Les îles du ciel / Base Hydravion ULM du Gosier (in Le Gosier), Miel de la Belle Hotesse (in Saint Louis) and Saint Francois (ULM Caraibes, La Case Aux Tresors, &more). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Anse Tillet - Interdit Aux Nudistes, get outside with Plage Cluny, stroll through Plage de Petite Anse, and walk around Parc Aquacole.

For more things to do, ratings, traveler tips, and more tourist information, use the Deshaies road trip planning site.

Pointe-a-Pitre to Deshaies is an approximately 1-hour car ride. You can also take a bus. In December, daytime highs in Deshaies are 34°C, while nighttime lows are 26°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Sat) so you can drive back home.

Butterfly Island
Experience a lively mixture of French and Afro-Caribbean culture on your Guadeloupe vacation. The archipelago consists of two main islands connected by bridges spanning a mangrove swamp, and a number of smaller islands to the south. The island of Grande Terre is mostly flat and arid, offering numerous scenic beaches and lively small towns, while Basse Terre features verdant jungles and mountainous terrain, crowned by a tall volcano. On a tour of Guadeloupe, you can enjoy a variety of beach activities, partake in hiking through a national park, and bask in the vibrant atmosphere of charming towns and villages.
