Bouillante is a commune in the French overseas region and department of Guadeloupe, in the Lesser Antilles.HistoryBouillante was founded about 1635 with the arrival of some of Guadeloupe's first colonists. Get out of town with these interesting Bouillante side-trips: Deshaies (Plage de Grande Anse, Jardin Botanique de Deshaies, & more), Distillerie Bologne (in Basse-Terre) and La Soufriere Volcano (in Saint-Claude). There's still lots to do: learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Parc des Mamelles, le Zoo de Guadeloupe, cruise along Route de la Traversee, contemplate the long history of Roches gravees de la riviere du Plessis, and take in the exciting artwork at Reve de Sable.

Drive from Le Gosier to Bouillante in an hour. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In January in Bouillante, expect temperatures between 34°C during the day and 24°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Fri) early enough to travel to Iles des Saintes.
