Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Get some cultural insight at Piazza San Marco and Basilica di San Marco. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Scrovegni Chapel and Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute. Take a break from Venice with a short trip to Basilica di Sant’Antonio in Padua, about 38 minutes away. There's much more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande, wander the streets of Cannaregio, pause for some serene contemplation at San Giorgio Maggiore, and snap pictures at Ponte di Rialto.
