Arnhem is known mostly for its John Frost Bridge, which the British tried to secure during World War II. The operation was significant enough to be the subject of a movie, "A Bridge Too Far." Many who go to Arnhem do so for its historical museums, war monuments, museum of modern art, and the Burgers' zoo.
Step out of Arnhem to go to Kaatsheuvel and see Efteling, which is approximately 1h 10 min away. There's still lots to do: get engrossed in the history at Nederlands Openluchtmuseum, stroll the grounds of Airborne Cemetery, contemplate the long history of Het Duivelshuis of Maarten van Rossumhuis uit 1518, and meet the residents at Burgers' Zoo and Safaripark.
