One of the world's most ancient cities, Athens remains Europe's undisputed historical and cultural capital.
Get outdoors at Mount Lycabettus and Glyfada Beach. Acropolis Museum and Museum of Cycladic Art will appeal to museum buffs. Fly from Rome to Athens in 6 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of train, ferry, and bus. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time to Eastern European Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. In July in Athens, expect temperatures between 91°F during the day and 75°F at night. You'll have a few hours on the 10th (Sat) to wrap things up before traveling home.
